I Heart Succulents!

Looking for a unique, sustainable alternative to traditional event decor? At Green Events we go crazy for succulents. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are so simple to care for – forget to water them for a day and the water storing plants will be just fine. Whereas a typical floral arrangement lasts about a week, a succulent centerpiece lives for months, if not years, making it the perfect decor choice for your eco-friendly event.

These days succulents can be found just about anywhere, from your local nursery to the Farmer’s Market. I even recently found an amazing selection on the Etsy website. Once you’ve made your plant selection choose your pot based on the look your going for. A more modern arrangement calls for something simple and elegant, such as a contemporary glass vessel. If you’re event is going for a more vintage feel however, have some fun and choose a hodgepodge of unique pots such as coffee cans or antique boxes. From there, simply fill your desired container with soil and plant away. There is no right or wrong way, which is the wonderful thing about succulent arrangements – they are as unique as their designer.

Vintage

For those readers who are not quite the do-it -yourself type, The Juicy Leaf in Venice Beach has an amazing selection of pre-made succulent arrangements. Their unique and modern plants make great gifts, the perfect addition to your home decor, or an amazing event centerpiece. They even offer monthly workshops to teach you their step by step arrangement process. Owner Felix Navarro says, “Our arrangements are meant to be a way for anyone – plant-savvy or not – to have incredible succulent plants indoors with a clean and contemporary presentation.” We love it!

Eco Invites

While sending electronic invites is always the most eco-friendly option, as most of us know, sometimes a tangible invitation is the only way to go. Whether it be a wedding or an elegant gala, certain events simply call for a paper invite. Lucky for us (and the environment!) companies are sprouting up all over the place that offer sustainably made cards that guarantee you won’t be cutting down any trees when you send out your next event invites. Not only are they green, but these paper choices are gorgeous and unique!

Backwards Prints

Handmade by Laguna Beach designer Brynne Cogorno, all Backward Print’s cards are made of tree-free Lokta pulp and embedded with a blend of 15 different wildflower seeds. Once your event has passed, the recipients of your invitation can literally plant their card and have a beautiful pot of flowers sprout within weeks. From custom invitations to holiday cards and thank you notes, Backward Prints can design anything you can dream.
