Wabisabi Coastal Craze Event

By Chrissy Gray, Creative Director

This Friday, from 4-7pm, local artist, Jolee Pink, launches her modern, eco friendly home decor collection and its Encinitas gallery, Wabisabi Green, in an unparalleled North County experience that promises to appeal to many audiences. The typically rectangular and boxy, commercial gallery space will be turned into a staged aquatic wonderland. This is definitely one party you won’t want to miss!

A production by Wabisabi Green and GRN Events…

- outlandish sea creatures with themed hair and makeup by Girl On the Go Spa
- cutting edge artwork by 10 local artists
- live music by veteran acoustic guitarist, Jimmy Patton
- cleverly designed ocean themed desserts by local pastry chef, Kat Johnson
- a variety of beverages from craft beer to imported Irish cider
- delectable Cassie’s Crepes and charcuterie trays from Whole Foods Encinitas
- a “life-sized mermaid” posing on Wabisabi Green Shore Collection pillows

A one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture will be auctioned off to benefit the Coastal Community Foundation’s Healthy Day fund, and ten percent of all art and dessert sales during the event will benefit Healthy Day and the Positive Plate.

Incredible Views • Sustainable Design

By Chrissy Gray | Creative Director

Always on the lookout for interesting venue space, when I came across an online event photo overlooking the ocean at sunset, I couldn’t help but do a bit more research. Turns out the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla has an event venue on site – the Scripps Seaside Forum. Not only does the space boast breathtaking 360º views of the California coastline, but it was also awarded LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in August 2009. The rating includes site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, and innovation and design process, i.e. this is one gorgeously green event venue!

Organic Ice Cream with Vintage Style

By Chrissy Gray, Creative Director

I wouldn’t call myself a sweets kind of girl. Given the choice between a salty snack or a sweet treat, you can pretty guarantee I’ll choose the savory option. However, a girl can make exceptions from time to time, especially when you’re talking about organic ice cream served from a super rad vintage truck! And yes, such a thing actually exists.

Sweet Lucie’s is a SoCal based operation that provides an array of delicious ice cream and toppings from a 1950′s classic truck and vintage cart to special events and private parties. They use all organic and natural ingredients and select fair trade chocolates, teas, and coffees as well. The ice cream and sauces are handmade specifically for your special event which means if you have a unique flavor in mind, Sweet Lucie’s can more than likely create it!

From classics like vanilla bean, chocolate, and coffee, to fan favorites such as Snickerdoodle, Frozen Hot Chocolate, and Mint Lemonade Sorbet, Sweet Lucie’s is the ice cream lovers dream. Plus all of their serving cups and spoons are not only recyclable but compostable as well. Gotta love that!
